Who is Your Neighbour (WIYN)

Who is Your Neighbour? is a charity that holds conversations in South Yorkshire communities where people might be experiencing or managing the consequences of change and / or feel they have not been listened to. Participants are invited to speak openly and listen to others. Difficult topics like race, immigration and culture are welcomed.

Established in 2010, WiYN?’s conversations are carefully facilitated, communicating that all participants are valued and their experiences taken seriously. The method of facilitation promotes curiosity about oneself and others.

Participants and facilitators alike might then reflect on their attitudes to others; the goal is to promote greater openness using the power of conversation. Conversations are usually (and initially) ‘intra-community’ sessions; Who is Your Neighbour? is distinctive in this regard.

Beyond South Yorkshire, WiYN? can offer training and consultancy to those seeking to to hold similar conversations in their communities or wondering how best to respond in conversations where difficult things are said.
