These young people are passionate about using their experiences of making a life in this country to work with and represent the views of other children and young people who want to do the same. Among their projects are:
The Belonging Toolkit
Co-produced by the Young Citizens and specialist educators Coram Life Education, the tookit aims to increase social cohesion and inclusion and to raise awareness of the kinds of issues facing children from migrant backgrounds. It is highly interactive and includes activities and films featuring the voices of the Young Citizens alongside other children and young people born both in and outside the UK.
The Stranger Series Photography Project
Coram’s Young Citizens partnered with professional photographer Arteh Odjidja, to develop their photography skills and refine their own unique creative voices. Their photographs showcase the achievements and aspirations of young migrants in order to challenge public perceptions and inspire those from similar backgrounds. The photographs have been exhibited at venues including British Museum, City Hall and Central St Martins.
