Mosaic was founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2007, and is part of The Prince’s Trust charity. The programme’s main aim is to create opportunities for underrepresented minorities and young people growing up in hard-to-reach areas across the UK. Through supporting connections with positive and relatable mentors, Mosaic hopes to bridge the aspirational-attainment gap. 

Since its conception, Mosaic has supported over 40,000 young people, with the help of over 10,000 relatable role models in almost 1,500 institutions across the UK. The Mosaic Secondary School Programme offers a fully funded seven-week curriculum which focuses on enhancing confidence, soft skills and aspirational outlook. This is typically done through group mentoring, workplace visits and inspirational speeches. 

Access to menteeship for underrepresented minorities is often few and far between, which is why 82% of Mosaic’s beneficiaries come from the 20% most deprived areas of the UK. Mosaic’s focus on facilitating self-efficacy works towards improving long-term employment for BAME groups and young people. They hope to continue reaching out to new communities in the years to come.
