Behaviours that will not be tolerated by The Cohesion and Integration Network (Belong) include, but are not limited to:
- Offensive or discriminatory actions or comments related to a person’s gender, race, sexual orientation, disability, appearance or other aspects of identity or protected characteristic
- Sexual harassment such as verbal innuendo and sexual comments, sexual jokes and stories, displaying pictures or sending emails containing sexual content, making sexual gestures, asking for sexual favours
- Physical contact without consent or patterns of inappropriate social contact
- Threats or incitements of violence against anybody
- Stalking or deliberate intimidation, including continued one to one communication after a request to cease
- Publication of confidential or sensitive communication
- Unwelcome comments regarding another person’s lifestyle choices or practices.
Action will be taken against anyone who does not adhere to this code of conduct, regardless of their membership status.
Reporting of inappropriate behaviour
If you experience harassment or discrimination of any form whilst participating in any The Cohesion and Integration Network (Belong) event or activity, or if you are made aware that someone else may be affected by inappropriate behaviour, you should contact us.
Reports of inappropriate behaviour can be made onsite at any event, by talking to a member of The Cohesion and Integration Network (Belong) staff team, or by emailing email@example.com.
All reports will be treated in confidence and investigated in a timely and appropriate manner and according to current best practice as advised by the Charities Commission. (Belong- the Cohesion and Integration Network’s full Complaints Policy is in development)
Use of Online Forums
The Cohesion and Integration Network (Belong) online forums are there to provide space for knowledge sharing, collaboration and connecting with other from across sectors who are involved in cohesion and integration work.
Online forums are available to those from organisations who are signed up for a Standard or Advanced Membership or as part of a Place Based Partnership. Members are assigned a specific number of log ins according to membership and it is their responsibility to ensure that details of those members of their organisation who have access are updated when any changes occur.
Access to specific groups is at the discretion of the Cohesion and Integration Network (Belong) operators. When you join the Online Forums, you’ll be an Authorised User of Slack, and will also agree to their terms and conditions of use: slack.com as part of the sign up process.
The Cohesion and Integration Network (Belong) online forums are a space for cohesion practitioners to discuss their work, share resources and others professionally. Members should be mindful of this when using the forum channels. Make sure that the content that you are posting is of value to the community or other members in some way.
Members should not approach others with unsolicited self-promotion, sales pitches or repetitive links.
Please do not pass information gained through the Cohesion and Integration Network (Belong) online forums to outside bodies such as marketers or sales people without consent.
The Cohesion and Integration Network (Belong) operators may intervene and review/ expel any members causing or participating in harassment. Behaviour which is defined as harassment includes behaviours identified under our Harassment policy above.
Participants asked to cease any inappropriate behaviour are expected to comply immediately.
Reporting of inappropriate behavior online
If yourself or others have or are being harassed on the Cohesion and Integration Network (Belong) online forum, or if you have other concerns related to this, please contact one of the Cohesion and Integration Network (Belong) operators by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
We reserve the right to reject any report we believe to have been made in bad faith or intended to silence legitimate criticism.
We will respect confidentiality requests for the purpose of protecting victims of abuse. At our discretion, we may publicly name a person about whom we’ve received harassment complaints, or privately warn third parties about them, if we believe that doing so will increase the safety of the Cohesion and Integration Network (Belong) online forum members or the general public. We will not name harassment victims without their affirmative consent.
Participants asked to stop any behavior violating this code of conduct are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in any such behavior, the Cohesion and Integration Network (Belong) operators may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from any of the Cohesion and Integration Network (Belong) online forums. In some cases, the participant may also be identified as a harasser to other outside parties if there is a risk to individuals’ safety.
