British Integration Survey 2019

The Challenge asked a series of questions about how people connect across a range of differences, including ethnicity, socio-economic background, age and education. Using a nationally representative sample of over 6,500 people, their findings provide valuable insights into the factors driving social connection and highlight which groups are most socially isolated.

The British Integration Survey was published by the social integration charity The Challenge in June 2019. It is a survey of over 6500 people across the UK, carried out to determine the state of integration in the UK today. The survey’s findings are divided into six areas: how we mix across social class, how we mix across ethnicity, how we mix across age, how we mix across education, the regional picture and attitudes towards difference. The survey provides hard data and a number of key learnings to help us understand the challenges we face as a society when it comes to integration and how we can overcome them.
