Today (Thurs 30 May) Belong launches our Manifesto for Social Cohesion – a document setting out how the next Government can build stronger, more connected communities.

Our manifesto draws on the expertise and experience of our members and wider social cohesion sector partners to provide five key objectives for government, underpinned by 26 practical recommendations. They include establishing a UK Commission on Social Cohesion and the introduction of a national framework to monitor cohesion, allowing us to act before tensions flare. Overall we want to see a long term, evidence-based approach which learns from previous crises and works to build trust and bridge divides every day.

Belong is calling on the next government to work with us, our members and sector partners to adopt the objectives and recommendations of this manifesto.

What you can do: Ahead of the General Election, please read and share this document with your networks; speak to candidates standing in the area/s where your organisation works to raise the importance of social cohesion work after July 4.

We’ll have more updates soon on how we take this work forward and how our members can get involved. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch using the Contact Us section of the website.
