The Great Get Together

The Great Get Together is inspired by Jo Cox, who was killed on 16 June 2016. We believe there is a groundswell of people who reject divisive politics and simply want to bring our communities together and celebrate all that unites us.

In 2017, the nation came together on the first anniversary of Jo’s murder for the first ever Great Get Together. The response was overwhelming with millions taking part in picnics, Iftars, street parties and community celebrations large and small of all kinds across the UK. 90% of people who took part said they wanted to bring their communities together again so in June 2018 it happened all over again on what would have been Jo’s 44th birthday. This year, the third Great Get Together weekend will take place on 21st – 23rd June 2019, which would have been Jo’s 45th birthday.

Up and down the country people are connecting their communities through The Great Get Together. Whether you want to start something in your community, workplace or school we’ve got tools, tips and resources to help you. We know that when people get together, they can put aside their differences and celebrate having more in common.
